Overview

What Testosterone Undecanoate is

Testosterone undecanoate is a testosterone ester used as testosterone replacement therapy in men with confirmed hypogonadism. It is available in different formulations, such as long-acting injection and oral capsules; the formulation is to be confirmed with the partner pharmacy. Testosterone is a controlled drug in several markets.

Suitability and dosing are decided by a prescriber on the basis of the approved product information.

How it works

Testosterone replacement, released slowly

Testosterone undecanoate is a long-chain ester of testosterone. The ester is released and converted to testosterone gradually, restoring levels in men whose own production is insufficient. How often it is given depends on the formulation.

EsterSlowly converted to testosterone.
AimTestosterone levels within the normal range for adult men.

Treatment is appropriate only when hypogonadism has been confirmed by symptoms and repeated blood tests.1
