Cookie Policy
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on the NovaMeds website for Canada.
Last updated: 30 September 2026.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as browser (local) storage, keep information on your device in a comparable way.
Some cookies last only while your browser is open (session cookies); others remain for a set period.
How NovaMeds uses cookies
The website uses cookies set by WordPress and WooCommerce, the software it runs on. They are set by NovaMeds’ own website, not by other companies.
The website does not use advertising cookies, social media plug-ins or third-party analytics services, and it does not load content from other websites that could set their own cookies.
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies keep your basket and checkout working: without them a request cannot be submitted. Staff sign-in cookies are set only for NovaMeds team members who sign in to manage the website.
Order attribution cookies
WooCommerce’s order attribution feature uses the sbjs_ cookies to record how the visit that led to a request started, for example whether you arrived directly, from another website or from a campaign link. When you submit a request, this information is stored with it and helps us understand how customers find the website.
These cookies are not needed for the website to work. They are not shared with other companies.
Cookie list
The cookies the website sets today:
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| wp_woocommerce_session_[code] | NovaMeds (WooCommerce) | Keeps your basket and checkout choices, such as the delivery method and prescription status, between pages | Strictly necessary | 48 hours |
| woocommerce_items_in_cart | NovaMeds (WooCommerce) | Records whether the basket contains items | Strictly necessary | Session |
| woocommerce_cart_hash | NovaMeds (WooCommerce) | Detects changes to the basket contents | Strictly necessary | Session |
| sbjs_current, sbjs_first, sbjs_current_add, sbjs_first_add, sbjs_udata, sbjs_migrations | NovaMeds (WooCommerce order attribution) | Record how the visit started (direct, from another website or from a campaign), the first page viewed and the browser and device type, so this can be stored with a request | Order attribution | Session |
| sbjs_session | NovaMeds (WooCommerce order attribution) | Counts the pages viewed during the current visit | Order attribution | 30 minutes |
| wordpress_logged_in_[code], wordpress_sec_[code], wordpress_test_cookie, wp-settings-[id], wp-settings-time-[id] | NovaMeds (WordPress) | Sign-in and editor preferences for NovaMeds staff; not set for customers | Strictly necessary (staff only) | Session, or longer for staff who choose “Remember me”; editor preferences up to 1 year |
[code] and [id] stand for a value that differs for each visitor or user.
Browser storage
The basket and checkout also use your browser’s local storage:
| Item | Provider | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| storeApiCartData, storeApiCartHash, storeApiNonce | NovaMeds (WooCommerce) | Keep a copy of the basket and a security token so that the basket and checkout load quickly and safely | Strictly necessary | Until the basket changes or the browser storage is cleared |
| __wpDataTestLocalStorage | NovaMeds (WordPress) | Checks whether the browser allows local storage | Strictly necessary | Removed immediately after the check |
Managing cookies
The website does not currently offer a cookie settings panel. You can control cookies through your browser, as described below.
If you block strictly necessary cookies, the basket and checkout will not work. Blocking the order attribution cookies does not affect your request.
Browser controls
Most browsers let you see, block and delete cookies and stored site data, for all websites or for individual ones. The settings are usually found under privacy or security in your browser’s menu.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the cookies used on the website change. The date at the top of the page shows the current version.
