At 1 mg it is used for male pattern hair loss, as set out in its product information.<\/p><\/section>\n<section id=\"how\" data-nav=\"How it works\"><span class=\"kicker\">How it works<\/span><h2>Less DHT at the <em>hair follicle<\/em><\/h2><p>Finasteride inhibits type 2 5-alpha-reductase, the enzyme that converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the scalp.
